“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5.
This verse was spoken to me in a time of great need about 22 years ago. It is one of the few times in my life I have actually heard the Lord’s voice as clear as a bell. I was in a waiting season, those ground hog like days of waiting. Waiting for the Lord to show up in one way or another. He did. In just the right way. In just the right time. I will always have that moment to hold onto. He was as clear as a bell. He spoke, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart (and he emphasized the second half of the verse) and lean not on your own understanding.”
The phrase “clear as a bell” comes from the early 1900s when church bells would ring to call people to worship, to celebrate and mourn. The bell was a very clear way of communicating and its actual ring was appreciated for its far reach and clarity.
In these Covid days I have said multiple times, “I just don’t understand.” So much of what has happened seems perfectly understandable one moment and then incomprehensible the next. I am reminded the Lord’s word is far reaching and is perfectly clear. His word is true. He is trustworthy. He has the full picture. He alone holds sovereign understanding .
I am grateful to be surrounded by a community that loves the Lord and reflects on His goodness. With this blog we will spend a season doing just that. I have reached out to a few people who have submitted blog posts. I would love for YOU to do the same. If you have a word you would like to share on this blog, send it to Tracey@letsmeetatthetable.com. I would love to read it and possibly share on this blog!
With His love and clarity,
